Piper Lee - New Workshop

The following is some background information regarding gorgeous little Piper Lee who we are going to be raising money for at our next workshop. If you know of anyone who is willing to donate goods/services either to the family or for raffles/silent auctions on the day please let me know as soon as possible.

Piper Lee
Piper has just celebrated her 4th birthday and was diagnosed with a form of Cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma just before last Christmas. Dr’s have decided the tumour is inoperable because of the position it is in her head. So to treat it she had to have 30 sessions of intensive Radiation Therapy which had taken its toll on her.

For that treatment and because of her age Piper needed a General Anaesthetic (GA) every time she had a session. Piper started to get tired and had to be put on strong pain relief for the pain she was feeling. Her skin was getting burn from the beams so it was difficult to be outside or go anywhere. Piper also has to have weekly sessions of Chemotherapy until the Dr’s have agreed that it’s small enough to stop it from growing again. Because the chemo is potent Piper always gets sick and has to be put on anti nausea medicine to stop the vomiting and because of what the chemicals do to her body she is often in hospital for days, sometimes for weeks until her immune system is able to support her health. Piper has routine MRI scans and CAT scans to see her progress and because of where the tumour is she again has to be put under GA to make she they get a perfect scan. The Dr’s have given her a 60% to 90% chance of survival.

Piper knows she is sick and that it’s called cancer but is too young to fully understand what that means. When Piper’s not in hospital she’s enjoying her cat Arnie and enjoys tormenting her little sister Andrea. She has been known to sneak in a cuddle and an “I miss you” with her when she thinks no one is looking. Piper is a Disney Princess fan with Barbie and Dora the Explorer a close 2nd and 3rd. She likes to watch all their movies when she has a stay in hospital. Keeping her entertained during her stay is proving more difficult by the day. Piper has become quite good at writing her ABC’s and 123’s and covering her hospital room walls with colouring book pages.

Thank you to her Mum for giving up this information and to Bee who has been acting as the go between. Lets hope we can really make this a successful day and help out this family.
